This book examines the history of the people named on ginger beer and stout stoneware bottles from the Isle of Wight. The evidence comes from genealogical research, newspapers, local records and tales told by other collectors, historians or family members. The work is an exploration of the stories behind the names. They are not limited solely to ginger beer styles, as the list includes some slightly larger skittle or stout bottles and one whisky jar. I should explain that this is not a book for reading from cover to cover; it is a reference book for ‘dipping’.
